Wills & Inheritance

A well-drafted will decides where your property goes, and spares your family disputes, delays and costs. I draft it around your family and your assets, and go through every clause with you.

When there is already a will, or none at all, I represent the family before the Registrar of Inheritance and the Family Court, until the estate is actually divided.

Questions

Questions on wills & inheritance

01Is a handwritten will valid in Israel?

Yes, if it is entirely in the testator's handwriting, dated and signed by them. Handwritten wills are more exposed to disputes, so I recommend a will before witnesses.

02What is the difference between a succession order and a probate order?

A succession order is issued when there is no will, and the estate is divided under the Succession Law. A probate order is issued when there is a will, and the estate is divided according to it.

03What is a mutual will?

A will that partners make together, each leaving their estate to the other, and sometimes also deciding what happens after both have died. The law sets special rules for revoking such a will, so it has to be drafted carefully.

04Can I change my will?

Yes. As long as you are alive and have capacity, you can revoke or change a will at any time, subject to the special rules for mutual wills.

05Is there a deadline to object to a will?

An objection is filed after the application for a probate order is published, within the period set in the regulations. If you are considering an objection, get in touch as early as possible.
